As King of Ithaca in the Ancient Greek period, 'Odysseus' was King of Ithaca, a small island off the coast of Greece.

He was renowned for

his cunning and resourcefulness and was also known as 'Ulysses'.

In my painting I've tried

to present his power and strength in a dynamic form.

The Enjeneer
and the Moon
sat down for tea.

Jennifer Crilly (the

enjeneer). I've tried to represent her world. The mountains she's climbed, how she can reach for the stars, take time out to reflect, and always have her 'moon spirit' there to guide her.

I was lucky to have my step-grandfather living with us when I was a child. He was a trawlerman and we seldom saw him as he was often away to sea. In those days, being a trawlerman was a particularly tough profession in a harsh environment. He never complained or spoke much about it or how he felt.

The Stillness.

Having walked across some of the remotest parts of Scotland, I've often had moments like this where everything seems to have come to a stop. There's a stillness, and a purity to that moment in time that stays in your mind forever.

The Neuk.

Here I wanted to represent a turbulent period in Scottish history where many 'highland' people were evicted from their homes by landlords only to be replaced by sheep. 'Stormy' times indeed, hence the black sky and the orange thatch representing the fact that many of their homes were burnt to the ground to prevent them returning.

To this day, it led to Scotland's heritage being being spread to the four winds all across the 'known' world.

Here's my wacky abstract sense of fun.

I thoroughly enjoy the abstract, that twist on a visual image and it's message. This is part of a tongue-in-cheek series poking fun at people who refrain from doing any dish washing.

Photography.

I thoroughly enjoy taking photos of the world that surrounds us. It's forever changing and

enlightening.

I'm no expert, but I love trying to capture images that inspire me. The one thing that continues to draw me in is 'doors'. The older the door and more weathered it is, the better.

I think, we are all fascinated by what lies behind such a door. An entrance to a whole new world, an enchanted garden ...or more!
